Anchorage Solar Tour on the ASES National Solar Tour – LINK

Welcome to the 10th Annual Anchorage Solar Tour!!! You are invited to join the largest grassroots solar event in the USA… to be inspired!!! …and to see first-hand how many folks in Anchorage Alaska are harnessing the power of the sun, saving money, and creating jobs. Admission to the tour sites is free, and the owners of each site will be present, along with some of the designers and builders, to answer your questions. Please limit your visit to the time slots listed below and arrive at the starting time so that group tours can be conducted to make the best use of tour times. Please also be respectful of private property and stay within designated parking areas. Visitors assume responsibility full their behavior and action. Tour host or related parties will not be held liable for any injury, damage, or property loss that may occur.

10:00–11:15a Site #1. Bosco’s Retail Store

First site features an architecturally integrated solar PV awning + micro-inverters with shallow tilt and great exposure on a commercial retail building. Reception @10am with speakers, coffee, breakfast items to start the tour!!!

11:30-12:30p Site #2. Mixed Use 3 Story

The second site is new Cook Inlet Housing Authority 3-story mixed use with 33 apartments plus ground floor retail space powered by 18.5 KW grid tied solar PV system, ground source heat pumps + many more EE features!!!

1:00-1:45p Site #3. Heritage Residence

The third site of this year’s tour is an excellent example of well integrated solar PV on a 1300 sq ft ranch style house with shallow pitch roof – the 6.6KW system has both a south and west facing array = 90% of annual usage!!!

2:15-3:00p Site #4. UAA Admin Building

The fourth site – UAA Campus Admin Bldg – 2.7KW array mounted vertically at 90 deg through floating wall panels to a fully engineered sub-structure – 100% student funded solar project that provides 2.5% of annual usage!!!

3:30-4:15p Site #5. Thorne Residence

The fifth site of this year’s tour is a 2,000 sq ft family home with 3KW solar PV array with micro-inverters that provides 50% of annual usage. Non-penetrating clamp mounting hardware is used on existing standing seam roof!!!
